Sustainability & Responsible Tourism

We deliver responsible tours that protect the environment, respect local culture, and support Australia’s natural and cultural heritage.

SUSTAINABILITY & RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

At JPT Tours, we are committed to operating responsibly and sustainably, ensuring that our tours protect the natural environment, respect local culture, and contribute positively to the communities in which we operate. Our goal is to offer meaningful travel experiences while minimising environmental impact and supporting the long-term preservation of Australia’s unique natural and cultural heritage.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

We actively work to minimise our environmental footprint by:

  • • Operating small-group tours where possible
  • • Encouraging guests to follow Leave No Trace principles
  • • Reducing waste and single-use plastics during tours
  • • Respecting wildlife habitats and national park guidelines
  • • Working with local operators who share our sustainability values

SUSTAINABILITY – OUR COMMITMENT

  • World Heritage Protection
  • Our tours operate in accordance with the regulations of Springbrook National Park, a World Heritage–listed site. All tours are led exclusively by licensed and approved guides. Rather than consuming nature, we encourage quiet observation and learning, ensuring our activities place minimal impact on this protected environment and support sustainable tourism.

  • Educational Value
  • Our experienced guides provide clear and engaging explanations about glow worm ecology, forest ecosystems, and water cycles. By learning about nature, guests develop a deeper appreciation and awareness of conservation, transforming the tour into a meaningful experience of coexistence between people and the natural environment.

  • Eco Certified Tourism
  • JPT Tours’ Natural Bridge Glow Worm Night Tour has maintained Eco Certification from Ecotourism Australia for over 20 years. This certification recognises our long-standing commitment to environmental protection, responsible operations, and sustainable tourism practices.

  • Supporting Local Communities
  • We actively support the local Gold Coast economy by employing local guides and drivers and working with local facilities and suppliers. A portion of tour revenue also contributes to the maintenance and conservation of national parks.

  • Low-Impact Night Tours
  • Our night tours are conducted in small groups over a short duration, with minimal use of artificial lighting and vehicles. By operating at night, we help reduce daytime congestion and distribute visitor impact, minimising pressure on the natural environment.

  • Protecting Glow Worms & Nature
  • Glow worms are extremely sensitive to light and noise. During tours, guides strictly manage visitor behaviour to prevent direct light exposure and disturbance. All torches used are collected after the tour, and recycling practices are implemented to reduce waste.

CULTURAL RESPECT & COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

At JPT Tours, we are committed to responsible and regenerative tourism that protects cultural heritage, empowers Indigenous communities, and minimises environmental impact. We actively encourage our guests to support sustainable tourism practices by:

  • • Following guide instructions at all times to ensure cultural and environmental protection
  • • Respecting wildlife, waterways, sacred sites and natural landscapes
  • • Staying on designated paths to prevent erosion and habitat disturbance
  • • Reducing waste, avoiding single-use plastics, and taking all rubbish with them
  • • Engaging respectfully with cultural stories and Traditional knowledge shared during tours
  • • Supporting locally owned and Indigenous-led businesses wherever possible

Through these actions, we aim to reduce our footprint while contributing positively to the communities and environments in which we operate.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY & INDIGENOUS PARTNERSHIP

JPT Tours respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways on which we operate and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. As part of our long-term sustainability and reconciliation commitment, we actively support Indigenous-led cultural organisations, including the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. We promote the Centre through the Supporting Local Communities section of our sustainability website, providing direct access to their official platform to encourage guests to engage in authentic, Indigenous-led cultural experiences. By promoting and directing visitors to Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, we aim to:

  • • Contribute to Indigenous economic participation
  • • Support the preservation and sharing of Traditional knowledge
  • • Encourage culturally respectful tourism practices
  • • Strengthen partnerships with First Nations communities
